Why Tenchi + Ryoko?: A Word from Angela, Kristine and Amber
"I love stories where one person loves/has always loved the other person for a very long time, and I guess that figures a lot as to why I love the Tenchi/Ryoko pairing. Tenchi had always gone to Ryoko's cave ever since he was a kid (before Ryoko was released), and as a spirit, Ryoko grew to love him. In a way, she'd always been there for Tenchi, even though he never knew that. And that sort of bond -- an invisible bond -- is the reason why I'm drawn to this pairing." :)

"It's not 100% clear that Ryoko and Tenchi are an item, however, you can kind of tell that there is a bond between these two. I love the whole relationship part of Tenchi Muyo, because it adds a more interesting spark to the series. I think what's really interesting about the whole romance issue in the series is that Ryoko has the guts to confront the one woman who wants Tenchi as much as she does, and that Tenchi gives you hints in who he's leaning more towards. But most of this is all symbolism, because there is more to this other than Ryoko facing life-threatening battles to save Tenchi or Tenchi not staying with Aeka on Jurai.
Unlike a lot of romantic-comedy related love stories, Ryoko and Tenchi's own little love story is unique from the rest. It's not mushy or all lovey-dovey, but it's realistic. The issue of love from the show points out what it really means to be in love with someone. It proves that love is more about just sending your loved one flowers and gifts, going out on dates, kissing underneath the stars, and all that. Love is something like taking action when your loved one is sad or when he/she needs helps and support. But we also learn that true love is something that's special, and should always be cherished no matter what.
Tenchi and Ryoko's relationship is special, and it's sort of the kind of relationship everyone dreams about. You know, finding that one person you would truly live and die for, or finding that special person who you know will always be by your side no matter what? Ryoko and Tenchi seem to have both of those cliches in pact, but it's kind of hard to spot unless you truly believe that these two are meant for each other. The bond that they have is very secretive, and usually when you have a special bond with someone you love, it's not something that is widely discussed with others like friends or relatives. Also, when you fall in love, and you know that he/she is the right person, your whole world seems to turn upside down, and that's kind of what happens in Ryoko and Tenchi's case. Like all couples, they fight, they sometimes can't stand each other, but in the end, they forgive and forget, and they just become closer.
I think the best element in Ryoko and Tenchi's relationship isn't the romance, the "I'll die for you" theme, or the comedy. It's their friendship. They are like best friends. Friendship is very healthy in a relationship and can sometimes be more important than love, because to have a strong bond with your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse, you have to know how to trust each other and know that you can depend on him or her. So, even though I do think of them as boyfriend and girlfriend, I think of them as the best of friends as well. I think no matter what, they'll always love each other, because they've been through so much together, and they've shared so much together."

Other than the fact that I just think they make such a kawaii couple, I feel like out of all the people Tenchi's paired with, the two of them have the closest "connection." Not to say I hate the other pairings, I just think there's something more in the Tenchi x Ryouko pairing than just a crush (or an obsession ^_^).
Ryouko would do anything for Tenchi, even if it's something she doesn't really like. She even went all the way to saving Aeka, her rival, to make Tenchi happy (though she did have a small fantasy about her coming home, lying to Tenchi by saying Aeka died and taking Tenchi for herself XD).
Another thing that I love about their relationship is that it seems more "real" to me. In some series, the couplings just throw themselves at eachother and declare their love in the second episode, without the smallest problem. With Tenchi and Ryouko, they can't just do that. You've got Aeka, Sakuya (in Shin Tenchi Muyo!) and all of the other girls to get in the way. While Ryouko knows for sure that she loves Tenchi, Tenchi also has feelings for people such as Aeka and Sakuya, so it's hard for him to just run up to her and kiss her to death.
